Replica Breitling Avenger Automatic 45
Updated Breitling Avenger Collection Launches in Chronograph, GMT and Automatic Models
Including stylish updates, complications and colors.
Breitling has launched an updated version of its Avenger collection of pilot watches. The Avenger collection dates back to the early 2000s and has been shrunk and simplified to create a stylish update. The collection includes the Automatic 42, GMT 44 and B01 Chronograph 44 – the chronograph is powered by the Breitling-made Caliber 01.
While the new collection retains the Avenger’s aviation inspiration and rugged looks, the updates bring the Avenger collection in line with other updates we’ve seen in the Breitling catalog.
A younger collection than the rest of Breitling’s collection, the Avenger incorporates all the modern elements of Breitling. The adjectives pretty much speak for themselves: big, bold, rugged, aviation-inspired, tool.
The Avenger’s case, dial and silhouette have been tweaked to make it more streamlined and modern. Gone are the large winged Breitling logo and Arabic numerals, replaced by a simple stenciled “B” and baton markers. The stainless steel case measures 44mm for the GMT and chronograph models, while the three-hand automatic measures 42mm. All cases have been reduced compared to their predecessors. In addition, the cases offer more detail and finish, with bevels on the lugs and polished details on the lugs of the rotating bezel.
The Avenger collection is full of aviation inspiration, and the chronograph remains the most important model in the collection. The updated Avenger B01 Chronograph 44 measures 44mm x 15.2mm (53mm between lugs) and is powered by the manufacturer’s Caliber B01, a COSC-certified column-wheel vertical-clutch movement with a 70-hour power reserve. The in-house movement represents a technological leap forward for the Avenger Chronograph. It’s still a large watch that’s suitable for everyone, but that’s what we expect—even demand—from Breitling. As products in other corners of the catalogue have shrunk in size, the Avenger collection has remained true to its original purpose. The Avenger Chronograph 44 is available with either a steel bracelet or a military leather strap and four dial colours: blue, green, black or sand.
In addition to the stainless steel chronograph, Breitling is also offering a “Night Mission” edition with identical specs, except with a black ceramic bezel and case, paired with a black or yellow dial (the crown and pushers are titanium!).
Measuring 44mm x 12mm (53 lugs), the Avenger GMT 44 features an independently adjustable 24-hour hand thanks to the ETA-based Breitling Caliber 32, which is COSC-certified with a 42-hour power reserve (Stacey calls it the “caller GMT” because it’s the 24-hour hand that’s adjustable, not the hour hand). The Avenger GMT features a bidirectional rotating bezel with the easily recognizable “Rider label” in the cardinal directions, a Breitling signature. It’s available with a black or blue dial, and on a strap or bracelet.
Finally, the Avenger Automatic 42 is the time-and-date model in the new collection, powered by Breitling’s COSC-certified Caliber 17 (ETA 2824-2). Measuring 42mm x 12.1mm (51mm lug-to-lug), it’s smaller than the more complex Avenger offerings, but slightly thicker than the GMT. It features a unidirectional rotating bezel and is available with a green, black, or blue dial; again, with or without a strap.
Overall, the new Avenger watches are a stylish and necessary update to an already aging collection. They seem reasonably priced, especially considering the chronograph uses the Breitling-made B01 chronograph movement.
